The 28th Cutting Edge CE Conferences and Events has announce a multi-Grammy nominated songwriter, Jim McCormick, as the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Jim is also our Cutting Edge REDUX’s Keynote speaker, where he will sit down (virtually) with Jan Ramsey, Founder, and Publisher of OffBeat Music Magazine, on Friday, October 16, 2:00 PM (CST).

Jim McCormick was never your typical band frontman. In 1991, he and his bandmates founded the 90’s era roots-rock band, The Bingeman. The band consisted of Marc Funti on drums, Ed Conway on guitar, Cleaver Schmidt on Bass and vocals, and Jim McCormick on lead vocals. The Bingeman had a distinctive sound, more melodic, great lyrics all brought together by Jim McCormick vocals. A crowd-pleaser, the band amassed a dedicated fan base due to touring extensively and holding court at New Orleans’ uptown music clubs, Jimmy’s and Carrolton Station. The band’s run ended in 1999.

The 2000’s a new decade, a new direction for Jim; he set his sights on Nashville and did as many from around the world has attempted, go to Nashville and become a hit songwriter. In the case of Jim McCormick, it came true, with two #1 Billboard country charts songs, with Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert. His songs have been recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr., Trisha Yearwood, Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap, Jamey Johnson, Radney Foster, Luke Bryan, Smash Mouth, and many more.

Presently, Jim is signed to a publishing deal with Eclipse Music Group. On signing, Eclipse’s co-founder, Kurt Locher, is quoted by Lorie Hollabaugh in Music Row Magazine as saying, “We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with Jim, a long-time leader in the songwriting world and a consummate professional.”

Jim has served as board governor and vice-president for the Recording Academy and on the Nashville Songwriters Association International board.

Today, Jim splits his time between Nashville and New Orleans. He is on the faculty of Loyola University in New Orleans, teaching songwriting.
