Attend ‘Future of Music’ Exhibit at MODA

The Future Happened, Designing the Future of Music, an online exhibition examining how design and art deepens our relationship with music, is set to launch April 9, 2021 for viewers across the globe to enjoy. On April 7, the exhibition is hosting a media preview at 1pm EST, where the curators will provide an overview of The Future Happened, talk about selected works included in the exhibition and answer questions. Presented by Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) – the only museum in the Southeast devoted exclusively to the study and celebration of all things design – The Future Happened is rooted in Atlanta and charts the city’s vast sphere of influence locally and globally, while highlighting 40 artists from Europe, Africa, Japan and across the United States. Featured artists represent many genres – from Afro-fusion and hip-hop to indie rock, nu metal, punk, electronica, rapper poet, house pop and soul – and include Adama Jalloh, Charlotte Adigéry, Clipping, Peter Saville, Nep Sidhu, Daito Manabe, Spillage Village and more.

  • Saturday, April 10 from 3-4pm, The Future Happened: Curators’ Talk – Join MODA and the curators of The Future Happened: Designing the Future of Music, as they discuss the big ideas behind the exhibition, as well as the nuts and bolts of its making. In conversation with curators Lawrence Azerrad, Ruby Savage, Floyd Hall, and Marlon Fuentes, guests will hear why the creation of this exhibition was so important to each of them and the impact they hope it will have.

  • Thursday, April 22 from 6-7pm, Design = Change: Methane Studios on Where Art Meets MusicMODA will speak with the illustration and design studio co-founded by Mark McDevitt and Robert Lee, Methane Studios, about their work designing gig posters, visual expressions of music that spark conversation and evoke feelings.
